Die Frage, welcher Künstler für ihn eine Vorbildfunktion einnimmt, beantwortet er mit den Worten: „If I had to pick up just one artist I would definitely chose Paul Gauguin. His life story changed my life as well as his paintings did. I would love to thank him for what I am at this point.“
Albin Tarik lebt und arbeitet in Krakau.
How does one recognize a good galerist In my opinion, the most important personality trait of a good galerist is the will for searching for a new inspirations. I truly admire professionals of the art business who specialize in a particular type of art or art movement but even more I am fascinated by the people who are as excited as I am while taking a look through the loads of art books, catalogues, exhibitions or web pages waiting to be thrilled and inspired by something I had no idea it even existed.
What makes your artistic creations unique/distinctive Probably it does not sounds humbly, but actually I am quite sure that my artistic creations are very unique. Firstly, I work using rather rare technique. I have seen a lot of different paper works and various types of collages but to be honest I have never found any artist working the way I do. I try to use thousands of tiny pieces of colourful paper glued to look like the oil paintings with all the specific colour transitions and the imitations of brush strokes. The whole process of collecting, selecting and combining these pieces is very complicated and it took me some time to get to this point. Secondly, I would also say that the message is really interesting for a lot of people I happened to talked to. I feel very satisfied that during my exhibitions I took part in many exciting discussions raised by my works.
What does art say about its creator? I was wondering about it many times especially that I love to get to know the biographies of the artists as well as their works. I am really fascinated by many examples of the way someones life or traits impact their artistic choices. Actually, I think that some of my works can also say a lot about myself. I am rather pessimistic person seeing the world in the dark colours. It happened a few times that some people read my real concerns and anxieties from my creations.
Your dream of happiness? I dream of a world without violence. It's hard to be happy in the present days but of course the happiness is something that everybody desires. It is quite obvious that happiness means something completely different for everyone. Some people equate beeing happy with having a lot of money. For somebody else the most important things are good health or peaceful life. For me, happiness is my family. I have a wonderful daughter, so I can say that I am truly happy. As far as the artistic route is concerned, I think that usually you have to be really lucky to gain the success in the art business. Of course it is also very important to be diligent and dedicated and have the personal connections with the critiques, art dealers and authorities. I personally consider myself hard-working so I hope to get lucky.
Which revolution would you have like to participate in? I do not think I am the revolutionist type. I would definetely chose the piece one or the most of all: music revolution.
How I see myself: When I look at myself as a father I constantly have to face the brand new challenges everyday. Being an artist makes me assume quite similar. First of all I try to be honest to myself and steadfast to what I feel. I do not try to by unique and original by purpose. Of course I have ups and downs as everybody else. I like getting to know or try new things but on the other hand I am also afraid of them. I am full of contradictions, fears. Sometimes I feel that I am too sensitive however I often try to learn from mistakes and draw positive conclusions.
What would be a reason for you to break up with art? At the moment, the only think that would stop me from creating is death. I cannot imagine anything else. Art is the sense of my life and I am completely dedicated to it and most of all it gives me happiness and joy. I just love it.
Big question: how does one recognize artistic talent? In my opinion, talent can be noticed right away. Some people are just doing something better without too much effort. For instance, a person can be blessed with an interesting and unique timbre. It just something that cannot be taught. I believe it seems to be very similar with visual arts or literature. On the other hand, I do not think that talent is everything. I claim that being dedicated and hard-working can lead you even much further. The great geniuses are ones who get big talents and are focused on working intensively at the same time e.g. Pablo Picasso.
What does artistic success mean to you?It is always great to gain the artistic successes. Sometimes I feel even proud of my consequent artistic choices, that despite my late age I managed to start my visual art adventure and I keep continuing it. All the exhibitions I have as well as all the viewers who stop by to take a deep look at my works are big successes for me. Of course I feel even more fulfilled when someone actually reflects on my work and can see a story in it or the essence of what I really wanted to convey, not only the technique that I used. In my opinion, each day proving yourself that you can do it, you can develop and having fun of it can be worth more that wining the contests or getting the best opinions of curators. Getting into the artistic world also caused many great friendships because art brings the people closer to each other. I treat the meeting of all these people through art also as a success.
What are the objectives of your artistic creations? Maybe, it is quite stock, but I really feel that the art can change the world. My goal is to provoke the viewer to consider what is really important. In my opinion, everyone can change the world and everyone is crucial for the world. I also believe that all the people are good and can be evil at the same time. Small steps can lead you to big results. Many things interest me. Where did we come from? Who we are? Where are we going? You can easily notice it in my works. In some of them you can see outer space and the cosmic objects, black energy, dark matter, black holes. I believe that the forces directing human fate are inscrutable, as inscrutable is the cosmos itself. I try to combine these two at first glance distant worlds and want to draw attention to the man, the decisions he takes and ask "Why?".
Which drug have you fallen for? Most of all I cannot imagine my life without music. It is really hard for me to envision myself without knowing the bands as Morcheeba, City and Colour or Frank Zappa. I would not be the same person and the same artist without the whole music adventure I have been having during my life.
What is the most important task of art in society? It depends. The art has many functions and all of them are important. It is quite difficult for me to point out the most important ones. For many theorists art equates art with aesthetic. For me it is much more. Art can be enjoyable but I believe it can also change the world. Art can entertain, provoke to think, enjoy, move or even disturb or confuse - generate emotions.
What does it mean to you to be an artist? Personally, I never felt like an artist. I just do what I feel I have to. I have thousands of ideas in my head and only one life.
